Dhanpat Rai Shrivastava or Munshi Premchand was born on 31 July 1880 in Lamhi in a village located near Varanasi and was named Dhanpat Rai. He was an Indian writer famous for his modern Hindustani literature and was one of the most celebrated writers of the Indian subcontinent.
